Engage_now

Supporting student engagement

The engage_now funding line was introduced at UZH in 2024. It supports projects in which students go above and beyond the required curriculum.

Students of UZH win gold at the Science competition in synthetic biology iGEM in Paris.

Whether students are attending international conferences, taking part in global competitions or presenting their own projects at start-up events, the new engage_now funding line from the UZH Teaching Fund has been providing students with targeted support to help them grow beyond their everyday studies since 2024.

A special highlight in 2024: ten UZH students showcased their RhyzUp project at the prestigious iGEM competition in Paris. Their goal was to use genetically modified bacteria to make plants more resistant to drought, heat and resourcesscarcity. The team was honored with a gold medal and received the Best Sustainable Development Impact award. What’s more, the project was also nominated for two additional awards.
