UZH in Numbers

The total number of students at the Bachelor's, Master's, and Doctoral levels increased to 28,476 in 2024, while there has been a moderate increase in staff numbers. The annual financial statement concludes with a balanced result. An overview of the figures for the 2024 reporting year.

Record Number of Students

The total number of students at the Bachelor’s, Master’s and doctoral levels rose to 28,476. This is 518 more than the previous year, meaning student numbers reached a new high. Most of this increase is due to rising numbers of students in the fields of medicine (+202) and natural sciences (+113), as well as the computer science subjects located at the Faculty of Business, Economics and Informatics. Substantial Rise in Teaching Staff

Overall staff numbers once again increased in 2024, reaching a total of 10,300 (+263). Likewise, the number of teaching staff rose to 6,262, which represents an increase of 471 compared to the previous year. The proportion of women rose slightly again to reach 57.1 percent overall and, for the first time, the proportion of women among professors was over 30 percent. Financial Situation

The total revenue of UZH rose to CHF 1.7 billion in 2024. UZH closed the year with a positive result and recorded profits of CHF 1.0 million.
